Porsche and Frauscher’s New Electric Plaything
German automaker Porsche and the Austrian boatbuilders at Frauscher have continued their ambitious collaboration, unveiling their latest creation, the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre, at the Düsseldorf boat show. This is no mere design exercise; it is a high-performance powerboat built entirely around the electric drivetrain of the Porsche Macan, accompanied by a specially finished Macan Turbo Concept Lago.
The design language, which Porsche subtly calls a "unified experience," culminates in the Concept Lago. This special edition Macan Turbo showcases what happens when car designers are given free rein in a yacht club’s materials warehouse. The result is an SUV finished in Darkteal Metallic, featuring a trunk lined with genuine teak wood and a compass on the dashboard where the clock would usually sit. Whether a wooden floor resembling a yacht deck is practical as a substitute for an everyday SUV's floor mats is another question entirely, but in the pursuit of exclusivity, rationality is rarely the top priority.
